Monthly Nature Program: Alabama Power’s Steve Krotzer

Join us for our March Nature Program (“Alabama Tigers: Big Attitude in a Small Package”) with Alabama Power’s Senior Aquatic Biologist and Biology Team Leader Steve Krotzer.

Mr. Krotzer has worked for Alabama Power’s Environmental Affairs Department for over thirty-five years, monitoring fish, mollusk, and aquatic insect populations below dams and near steam plants; locating and mapping wetlands associated with transmission lines, and monitoring threatened and endangered species living on company lands.

An avid insect photographer, he is past president of the Dragonfly Society of the Americas, an international group of professional and amateur dragonfly students that conducts research and surveys of these insects throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Mr. Krotzer has recently been working with two other authors to develop a photograph-based field guide to the tiger beetles of the southeastern United States (to be published by the University of Alabama Press).

Reception starts at 6:30 p.m., talk runs from 7–8:30 p.m., in the East Room at Birmingham Botanical Gardens.
