Executive Director

Birmingham Audubon is seeking an energetic Executive Director to oversee fulfillment of its mission promoting conservation and a greater knowledge of birds, their habitats, and the natural world.

The Executive Director will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of Birmingham Audubon, including the supervision of a highly competent staff and the coordination of its grant activities. The Executive Director will also implement Birmingham Audubon’s strategic plan, and will be responsible for raising funds and obtaining grants to advance its mission.

Working with the President and Board of Directors, the Executive Director will actively engage and motivate staff, volunteers, and the community to publicize and carry out Birmingham Audubon’s activities.

The Executive Director will also work with the Board to prepare annual budgets, and will oversee financial expenditures.

The Executive Director will report to the President of the Board of Directors. A detailed job description is available here. The successful candidate will have both significant experience with and demonstrated skills in managing a nonprofit organization. Salary will be commensurate with abilities and experience.
