Birmingham Audubon Scholars

Birmingham Audubon has long supported young researchers through its Walter F. Coxe Research Fund, and now we’re taking that commitment one step further. Beginning in 2016, the Birmingham Audubon Scholar program will provide longterm financial support to one student as he or she works toward a graduate degree in biology, ecology, or conservation.

Our first Birmingham Audubon Scholar is Alaina Lamb, an MS student in the Biology Department at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Alaina—whose field experience includes bird-based research in Michigan, Hawaii, and Costa Rica—is currently developing an urban habitat project investigating privet utilization by Alabama birds.

Check back here for updates on Alaina’s progress, or attend her upcoming Birmingham Audubon talk.
